Yummy Halloween Snacks to Try at Home!
Halloween is one of the best holidays for children as they get to dress up as their favorite characters and eat some sweet treats! Here are some super simple Halloween snacks for kids that you can make with them!
1. Marshmallow Monsters
Grab some big marshmallows and simply add some frosting to make your monster’s faces. Two black dots will instantly turn that marshmallow into a ghost! Chocolate chips also make good eyes.
Put your monster marshmallows on cake pop sticks or paper straws when you are done. Give some other candies, frosting colors, and sprinkles, and see what your child creates!
2. Halloween Doughnuts
You can do the same thing with doughnuts. Either buy some glazed doughnuts or make your own. Bagels work great, too, if you want to have a healthier snack.
Add some peanut butter or frosting and have your child decorate however they please.
3. Candy Corn Popcorn Balls
For another simple Halloween snack for kids, make some popcorn balls and add in candy corn or your favorite Halloween candy.
Pop some popcorn and make a sugary glaze to put on top when you are finished. This is to help it to stay in the balls and keep the candies in place.
4. Mummy Apples
Slowly peel an apple in stripes so some of the peel is gone and some still left on, trying to create a mummy pattern. Then, add two dabs of frosting or two dark circle sprinkles for the eyes.
You can cut the apple in half to make it easier for children to eat and grab it, especially if you have younger kids.
5. Pumpkin Bundt Cake
Did you know two bundt cakes on top of each other look like a pumpkin? Make two cakes with your kid, put them together, and then add orange frosting all over, and you got yourself an easy Halloween treat!
6. Halloween Trail Mix
For another healthier snack, have your kids make their own trail mix! With trail mix, you can add just about anything you want. Here are a few ideas to help get you started:
- Chex mix
- Cheerios
- Candy corn
- Small marshmallows
- Peanuts
- Chocolate chips
- Almonds
- Candy pumpkin
- Gummy worms
Simply combine all your ingredients, and you have a great Halloween party snack!
7. Pumpkin Cookies
Get a pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter and have your kids decorate their own cookies to look like pumpkins. Be sure to have orange, brown, and green frosting, but any colors will do.
Children will have fun cutting out the pumpkins with a cookie cutter and decorating the cookies once they are cooled down.
8. Dipped Strawberries
Grab some orange chocolate to melt down, and have your kids dip some strawberries in it. This will turn the strawberries into pumpkins!
You can also dip them in white chocolate and create mummies by drizzling lines of the chocolate on top, or you can make them ghosts by adding some chocolate chips for the eyes.
If you have green chocolate, see if your child can create Frankenstein!
9. Rice Krispies Pumpkins
Make Rice Krispies like you normally would, but instead of putting them in a pan, wait a bit for it to cool down and roll and squish them to make pumpkins! You can also add orange food coloring to make them more fun too.
You can also make regular Rice Krispies in a pan and sprinkle some candy corn on top for a simpler Halloween treat.
10. Chocolate Dipped Pretzels
Grab the long, thick pretzels and dip them in some chocolate. Then, sprinkle on some candies or sprinkles to create Halloween-themed pretzels. Green and orange sprinkles work great and are very simple to do.
If you have white chocolate, you can dip them, and once they are dry, drizzle the chocolate on again to create a mummy!
11. Halloween Smores
You can buy some ghost or pumpkin-shaped marshmallows if you want, or you can simply get regular marshmallows.
Once you place the cooked marshmallow on the graham cracker, add some orange, purple, or green sprinkles to make them special Halloween smores.
12. Celery Monsters
Add some peanut butter inside some cut-up celery sticks for a healthy Halloween snack for children. Then, add in a few eyeball candies to instantly create some monsters!
Raisins work well for eyes too, if you don’t want to use any candy.
13. Clementines Pumpkins
Clementines look like pumpkins once they are peeled and make for a cute Halloween snack. Add some celery sticks inside the middle to create the pumpkin stem.
14. Spider Pretzels
Got a bag of pretzels and some marshmallows? Have your kids stick some pretzels into the sides of the marshmallows to create a spider! Add some chocolate chips or frosting to create some eyes.
This also works great with some Oreos too!
15. Banana Ghosts on a Stick
Cut your banana in half and place it on a stick. If you want to keep it healthy, add some raisins for the eyes, and you will have a Halloween ghost!
You can also dip the banana in white chocolate and add some chocolate chips for the eyes as well if you want a more sugary treat.
16. Candy Corn Fruit Cups
For this Halloween snack, add some pineapple in a cup for the bottom layer. Then, put in your oranges or clementines. Finally, add some whipped topping on the top. This will create a candy corn design!
This is a great healthy option that your kids will love to make and eat.
17. Mummy Hot Dogs
For a protein-based snack, make some mummy hot dogs! Wrap the hot dogs with some biscuit or croissant dough and cook them. Make sure to leave open spaces when you wrap it so it will look like a mummy.
18. Frankenstein Grapes
Have your kids decorate some grapes with candy eyes and bolts sticking out on the side to create some Frankensteins!
If your grapes are too small, you can also fill up a cup with all your grapes and add two googly eyes on the outside of the cup.
These are some fun Halloween snacks for kids to enjoy. There are plenty of healthy options as well as some sugary ones too. All of these are easy enough that even your kids can help you to create these snacks. Make any of these treats, and your kids will love Halloween this year!
