Looking for a job can be a very difficult process if you don’t know where to start. However, as a special needs teen it can be even more difficult when submitting application to businesses. So let’s take a look at the 6 best jobs for teens with special needs below.

Tutoring

How about starting a tutoring side hustle where you tutor the children in your neighborhood or even students that go to the same school as you. This is a very low cost start up job where you can either start your own business or join tutoring agencies such as Varsity Tutors or Huntington Learning.

Babysitting

Babysitting someone else’s child can be a promising job for a special needs teen because of the huge impact you will make on a child’s life. Babysitting can be a very rewarding job because not only will you be taking on more responsibility but having fun playing with the kids while you get paid!

Pet Sitter

I love walking my dogs and buying them all kinds of pet supplies and accessories. Pet sitting is a fun way for special needs teens to get out and walk around and get some fresh air while walking the a god or cat. Caring for someone else’s pet is a huge responsibility and requires, patient, kindness, and love which is something that can teach children with special needs.

Camp Counselor

I used to be a camp counselor when attending high school to gain my experience and knowledge in the field of working with children which is why I love this blog so much! As a camp counselor you will be in charge of campers ranging from all different ages. This job is great for special needs teens because it teaches them responsibility, leadership, and awareness.

Valet Parker

Valet parking requires you to have a lot of awareness in busy parking lots which is huge step up in responsibility from pet sitting. Valet parkers must have a clean drivers license, and have some knowledge about how to operate different vehicles. This job would be great for special needs teens who love cars and would like to park cars in low traffic areas such as a country club or non-profit organization.

Movie Attendant

Who doesn’t love the movies? my favorite place to go is AMC Theaters because I get exclusive perks on deals when going to the theater. Being a movie attendant requires you to have patient when working with customers, friendly attitude, and build long lasting friendships. This job is great for a special needs teens mostly during the popular seasons such as summer or spring.

Grocery Store Stocker

Working at the grocery store can be a very rewarding job because you’re given the task to helping customers find the products that they need inside the grocery store. While working as a stocker you will learn time management, leadership skills, and build fine motor and gross motor muscle.

  • Referrals: Have your friend or parent refer you to a business or company that they work at.
  • Cover Letter: Write directly to the hiring manger or boss about your interest in their open position.
  • Volunteering: Something as simple as volunteering can go a long way when looking for a job. Start out as a volunteer first and show off your hard working skills and let your actions speak for you when they come to you about a job offer.
