How To Start A Teacher Blog and Make Money

Yes, you can make money blogging! I know some bloggers that make over $10,000 a month. Spreading your awareness, expertise, and value to parents, students, or whoever blogging about your expertise can become a rewarding outlet for helping others. So let’s take a look at the steps of what it takes how to start a teacher blog.

How to start a Teacher Blog and Make over $1,000 a month!

Step 1: Name, Niche & Hosting

The first thing that you want to do is to find a unique name for your blog and also figure out what NICHE you want to blog about. I have seen many blogs fail including mine because I would blog about something that I wasn’t an expert in or had no knowledge of.

What you want to do is a blog about something that you’re an expert in the field so you won’t be struggling to come up with blog topics, along with a person calling you about your blog and you aren’t rehearsed or knowledgeable about what you’re blogging about.

Next, you need to get hosting and I would recommend getting Bluehost and WordPress which is FREE before switching over to buying WordPress along with Bluehost.

These are two great platforms because 90% of the internet blogs and articles that you read are hosted on a WordPress or a Bluehost website/platform.

After starting and failing my first blog on Wix I quickly switched over to WordPress and saw a huge difference in how my readers responded to my blog.

Also, I say that learning WordPress can also be extremely HARD because it has a lot of plugins! However, daily practice or having someone complete the blog post for you on the platform will pay off in the long run.

Step 2: Learn SEO & (on-page/off-page)

Now here comes the HARD part! unless you’re an SEO expert I would suggest you hire one or join some SEO groups on Facebook or Linkedin because this is where you will have to learn how to drive organic traffic to your blog.

This is the part where I hit a stump in my blog because I didn’t know that the blogging world had shifted from not blogging about yourself which nobody cares about! to blogging about things and topics people are searching on the internet such as Occupational Therapy Toys and Sensory items as an example.

If you look at the chart below you will see that on-page SEO is fixing your website’s meta tags, title pages, and content, and making sure that your blog is indexing on Google. Just think of it more as the inner mechanics of a car.

Off-page SEO is when you have to market your blog, invite others to write on your blog and promote your blog to drive traffic back to it from other social media platforms like (Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, and Quora).

Step 3: Promote your blog and soar!

Now that you have learned SEO and got your hosting and domain name set up it’s time to promote your blog and write content consistently.

Starting I would suggest you start writing valuable content that everyone is searching for and write at least 20-30 articles for Google to index your site on the internet.

I always constantly use other websites such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Ubersuggest to help me find good keywords to write and blog about, however, keep in mind that some of these keyword platforms are not free and require payment while others such as Google Trends which where you can look up what’s trending around the world and write about.

Step 5: Make Money!!

Now we’re down to the step where everyone is here for and want to learn about. First, you must know that you want to make money from your blog and then decide to go for it.

I knew that I wanted to make money from my blog so I started on writing quality content and applying for Google Adsense right away which was a waste of time! because this Ad platform pays extremely low!

what you want to do is write great content and share it so that your traffic reaches over 100,000 page views and 50,000 sessions where you can apply to other ad platforms such as Mediavine and Adthrive now known as Rapture.

However, you don’t just want to rely on ads and should consider the other forms of methods below on how to make money blogging.

  • Sponsorships: People paying you to write about a product or service
  • Courses: You can create a course and sell it for as much as you want
  • E-Books: Create a small e-book and sell it as low as $1 to $1,000
  • Services: Create a service such as guest blogging or consulting with readers

Conclusion

Of course, there are many more! but these are just a few ways to make money. The sky is the limit on how to make money but what you want to remember is that you’re creating valuable content for your readers and answering their questions on the internet.
